Move2Health Equity focuses on increasing health equity in the greater Charlottesville Area.
Our Story
Move2Health was founded and focussed within the Blue Ridge Health district, also known as Planning District 10 in Virginia. The coalition was created to address childhood obesity and later expanded to include the larger community.
In this transition, it became the Move2Health Coalition through a partnership with Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, the Blue Ridge Health District, and the University of Virginia as a way to promote healthy eating and active living for all community members.
Throughout the years Move2Health has worked on increasing its reach in the community. In 2019, Move2Health expanded as the Move2Health Equity Coalition with key focusses on Access to Healthcare, Active Communities, Healthy Food Systems, and Healthy Spaces. These ‘Action Teams’ are a guide for the entire coalition and are the starting grounds for all pilot programs today.
